I would like to take a couple of minutes of your time, dear reader, to apologize for a few things. You may have noticed that the strip hasn’t updated for a while. You may have ALSO noticed that there wasn’t an explanation, or a “please stay tunedâ€, or anything else letting you know that the strip is taking a bit of a break.
That is all my fault.
Dan has been patiently waiting for scripts, which are all written on notebook paper and just needed to be typed up by me. However, that takes a lot longer than you would think, since all I really have on the notebook paper is the jist of the joke and maybe some dialogue. Then, when it’s time to write up a new batch of strips, I type it all up and send it to Dan, who does the actual hard work of drawing the strip.Â
I haven’t had the time to do this since about January for a number of reasons, as stated in the strip Dan posted a couple of weeks ago. I also had a serious medical issue about a month ago, and my recovery from it has been a lot slower than I would like.Â
What does this mean?Â
Well, it means the strip was delayed until I had time to get back to writing it. I didn’t want to do what a lot of webstrips do, posting “gee, we’ll be back soon!†because I didn’t know when I would have time to write again. I also didn’t want to lie to people and say that we’d do all of the strips we’d miss out on, because that’s pure stupidity. The snowball effect usually makes those people quit and I don’t want to quit. There are some fun stories coming up, new characters and we’re starting to get into election season, which is ALWAYS fun for me to write about.
So, Dan has scripts and is working on drawing them. I have given him about a month’s worth, and I’ll have another three month’s worth to him by the end of June.
Thank you for sticking, thanks for coming back, and as Don McGregor always said:Â Hang in there!
If Anyone Noticed and was Wondering
by Daniel Mohr on December 23, 2010 at 11:27 amYes, the naming scheme for the comics has changed. Now you can count along with us, as our number rises. This way Vegas can put the proper odds up on what number we will get up too as well.
First off, Thanks to Bartcop who linked to the strip today! I’ve been a been Bartcop.com fan for a long time (and have a link to his site in the blogroll), and while I may not agree with him on every issue, it’s good to see a fighting liberal with a sense of humor!
Second off, for those of you seeing the site from there, welcome! This here internet comic strip is set at the lowest rated Cable News company, and has been making fun of cable news, political events, and pop culture for a couple of months now, and is published twice a week. It’s drawn by Dangerous Dan Mohr, who also draws the critically acclaimed Everyday Gods webstrip. We alternate between longer story arcs and current event strips, and since we’re currently between story arcs…that’s right, these are the current event strips.
So, please feel free to bookmark the site or add it to your RSS feed, let us know what you think and if you like a strip SO MUCH you want to buy the original art, contact Dan and let him know!
First off, thanks for reading! I’ve had this strip idea bouncing around in my head for a LONG time, and as with any idea, the real work is sitting down and doing the hard work to bring it to life. Please continue to send me your feedback, spread the word and comment like mad gophers!
Now that the first story arc is done, I’ll write a little bit about how the stories for the strip will be structured.
There will be story arcs that run for a series of strips, like this one that introduced the set-up and characters, and inbetween these story arcs will be “one shot” strips that have gags based on current events, silly little ideas that aren’t big enough for a full story or something that either Dan or I found funny.
I’m also going to be adding character descriptions, ads and other things to make the strip more fun for you, the reader, as well as profitable for me so I can afford to buy the high end scotch I need to fuel the writing, so changes are still coming!
